This is just as important.

Aftercare Can Make or Break Your Tan.

While your tan develops:

Wear loose, dark clothing throughout the developing time (typically 1-4 hours if using a rapid/express solution or 8-12 hours for a regular solution). Please note that the color you are immediately after tanning is the color of the bronzer only. The component that tans your skin is actually colorless, and will reach its full development after 48 hours. The bronzer will wash off.

Do not get wet or sweaty as that may cause streaks & or blotchiness.

Do not touch the solution with your palms.

If sleeping in the solution, wear long sleeves/long pants and avoid skin-on-skin contact, as that can cause streaking.

Do not wait longer than advised to rinse. This is why people turn orange!

Your first rinse is ONLY WATER, no soap. Ideally water should be lukewarm, not hot.

After showering pat dry and stay moisturized to extend the life of your tan.

Tanning solution only penetrates the first dermal layer so stay away from harsh soaps and products, and other abrasive cleansers, loofahs or lotions that contain chemicals that can take off your tan.

Use conditioner on the skin when shaving, plus shave lightly to help protect your tan.

Use a tan extending lotion to help preserve your tan for 3-5 more days.

Use organic / natural-made soaps.

 To preserve your tan:

Always pat dry. Stay hydrated. Stay moisturized.

Keep getting into water to a minimum. Obviously enjoy yourself if you are on vacation! Just be aware that this will shorten the life of your tan :).

Wear oil-free sunblock and apply approximately 15 minutes before going into the pool, ocean or jacuzzi to help protect your tan as best as possible. Learn more in our Tanning Tips series: 5 Things to Avoid After a Spray Tan
